This beautiful and wonderful artistic berber pale taupe and purple wool rug is hand-woven by our artisans in the high atlas mountains, using techniques that are being passed from generation to generation. This Berber rug is from Ben Ourain tribe. We use undyed natural wool to decorate rugs with traditional grid designs. These magnificent and sophisticated Moroccan rugs beautifully connect the ancient history of nomadic Berber tribes with modern-day interiors through fascination. Every rug is entirely handmade and then washed and dried in the mountain air. The workmanship is great but I had a lot of little burrs buried in the fibers so you sometimes feel a sharp prick. I spent some time fishing them out and it seems ok now. It’s also more orange than I was anticipating. The color in the pictures is way more muted so I was a little disappointed. I had mentioned to the seller that I wanted a mustard yellow, but I guess I should have made a specific request, so that’s on me. The biggest thing was I waited nearly 3 months to receive it – which isn’t unreasonable since it’s custom made but since I was told it would take 5 weeks max, that’s where my expectations were. Although Amir was very friendly, overall I wish there was a bit more transparency as to why my rug was so severely delayed, just for peace of mind. All in all, I wish I loved it more but hopefully it will grow on me.
